The Maine Collection
Throughout the year, yards of sustainably sourced linen and cotton from Europe and India arrive at Antonia’s studio to await transformation by their tiny team. The fabric goes through many steps, from scouring, sewing, mordanting, dyeing mostly with natural dyes, stenciling, washing, ironing, and labeling. Antonia’s designs often incorporate multiple stencils and hand mixed colors in resplendent patterns. The printing evolves in an organic fluid process which can take up to a week or more and may be re-dipped into the dye vats. Each unique textile is imbued with a reverent, layered sense of history, to be used often and treasured indeed.
